My Dad

This past fall my father was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer with brain metasteses. This was a hard blow for my family.  However, thru it all God has been so faithful to keep us close and do miracles before our eyes.

The prognosis was grim....as it always is with cancer, but in my dad's case because of the number of tumors on his brain. So he began radiation on his brain in October which lasted 5 days a week for 4 weeks, totalling 20 treatments. Radiation took its toll  on his body, but NOT in vain.  We got a new report from an MRI done in December and all of the tumors were smaller than before and some were unrecognizable!  Praise God.  He does turn desert lands into pools of water.

After radiation, Daddy began to get chemo treatments.  He gets chemo every 21 days.  This has been hard to, but not as bad as radiation.  He is tired and weak, but praise God he hasn't been sick.  Other than fatigue, the main effect he feels is that smells bother him.  I joke that he should hang out with pregnant women! :)  We did get good news from Daddy's chemo doctor this week. A recent CT scan showed that all of the  tumors in his chest area are smaller and there are no new tumors.  So Praise God that Daddy's chemo is working.

Through this all I have felt God say that he will give us manna every morning & quail at night....he provided for the children of Israel in the desert and he's been faithful to provide for my family in our wilderness experience.  I am so thankful.

Also, I felt early on that God said he will use this to bring our family together.  My grandfather died many years ago of lung cancer and it divided my dad & his siblings in some very hurtful ways.  But thru this my dad has leaned on his siblings and God is using this bout with cancer to redeem the years the locusts ate.  God is so faithful to restore and rebuild.  He is so Faithful!

My dad is not out of the woods yet!  He has 2 more chemo treatments & possibly more radiation in the future.  And he also has the daily fight with the anxiety that comes with having a terminal illness. He's trying the best he knows how.  If you read this, please pray for my dad to be healed physically & emotionally.  God has done miracles so far.  I look forward to more with great anticipation.
